With nRF Connect for VS Code version 2026.9.2797 or later, the extension configures Nordic MCP automatically. Nordic MCP guides the AI assistant to use supported extension tools. These tools support operations such as building, programming, debugging, and reading logs. The guidance provides command-line alternatives when a complete extension procedure is unavailable.
Nordic MCP also supports the tested remote MCP clients listed in Get started with Nordic MCP. Only the automatic extension-tool integration is specific to nRF Connect for VS Code.
